Description & Services | |
Description of service(s) | Bi-Annual National Sculpture Competition runs all season in the large Sculpture Garden, with entrants from across Canada. All but the winners for sale to the public. Sculptures are placed among extensive water features and innovative plantings. Dozens of sculptures and fountains are found throughout the 27-acre site. Kingsbrae Garden celebrates St. Andrews' heritage of fine gardens with its use of old and new gardening styles. Visitors will find these great traditions in gardening in the White, Rose, Knot, Perennial and Cottage Gardens, to name a few. It also marks the town's historical connection to the Canadian Pacific Railway with the Van Horne Railway garden. Newer styles are reflected in our Gravel, Edible, Wildflower, Secret and Ornamental Grass gardens. Over 50,000 perennials, shrubs & trees in these and more themed gardens. You will also find alpacas, peacocks, pygmy goats, a genuine functioning Dutch windmill [1/3 scale], cedar maze, labyrinth of thyme, 8 acres of old-growth Acadian forest, ponds, streams, fountains, ducks, over 65 species of wild birds and many more sculptures. Play croquet or bocce ball, solve a treasure hunt or simply sit and enjoy the vistas from the Café terrace or on the one of many benches around the Garden. The Café is licensed, with a garden-fresh menu [children's menu also offered]. Canada's 1st "Jurassic Living Fossil" wollemi pine is on view daily - one of the world's oldest and rarest trees! |
