Description & Services
Description of service(s) The Multicultural Association of Fredericton Inc. (MCAF), founded in 1974, plays a vital role in establishing communication and fostering understanding within the community at large, settled immigrants and newcomers. MCAF accomplishes this by offering programs and services that meet the following goals: 
• to encourage and promote the concept of diversity and inclusion; 
• to provide newcomers to Canada with settlement services, language instruction,  
employment services and network building within the community; 
• to create an inclusive and welcoming community. 
MCAF Newcomer Programs deliver a range of services to facilitate the integration and full participation of newcomers in our community including: 
• English Second Language Classes, 
• Settlement Services, 
• Settlement Worker in Schools (SWIS), 
• Programme de liaison francophone,  
• Newcomer Computer Learning Centre, 
• Community Connections, 
• ESL for Temporary Foreign Workers and Their Spouses, 
• NB Employment Language Training, 
• Business English for Newcomers, 
• Employment Services for newcomers. 
The MCAF Children and Youth Programming facilitates participation, integration and leadership through the following programs: 
• Rainbow of Cultures Summer Camp for children age 6-12, 
• Newcomer Homework Clubs, 
• Newcomer Youth Group, 
• Boys’ and Girls’ Group, 
• Newcomer Children and Youth Music Lessons, 
• Newcomer Youth Participation in Sports (NYPS),  
• Youth Speak Up Video WelcoME/Bien Venu. 
• African Dance Group, Photography and Art Classes 
In our community, the MCAF organizes and delivers a variety of training, events and programs to celebrate diversity and to promote a welcoming and inclusive community including: 
• Creating Inclusive Workplaces Training, 
• Partnership with local organizations to enhance inclusive service delivery, 
• Cultural Expressions Festival, 
• Diversity & Inclusion in Schools project  
The work of the MCAF is enriched and supported by our many volunteers and community partners.
